The only electronic noise monitoring and ticketing system I've seen so far has been the NoiseSnare. Does anyone else make a similar system? I'd like to find several different ones so as to get the best.

Thanks.

People often ask about these kinds of technologies. The Noise Snare is covert traffic noise monitoring system that records video and sound from an offending vehicle, law enforcement can then cite the offending vehicle.

Street Noise Reduction Systems, Ltd.

An article (Gizmag) about the company and the technology (including video)

The system can be covertly mounted on a vehicle, which is then parked and left unattended at a location that municipalities wish to monitor. Once everything is armed, a microphone proceeds to register noise levels of passing vehicles. When a vehicle that exceeds legal noise levels is detected, a video camera captures footage of it, which is recorded - along with stereo audio - to DVD. Information such as the time, date and location of the infraction are superimposed on the footage, along with the vehicle's sound level in decibels.

How common are these systems? I've never heard of them before? Do they use these systems to record noise levels of noisy neighbors or outdoor amphitheaters? Or do they use different types of systems?

Click onto http://www.SecurityCamerasDirect.com, then order their free catalog. In the catalog you will find a license plate camera that suppresses/masks headlights when on at night. The number is 560TVL LIcense Plate Camera $209.9, no audio. The staff will help with any questions you may have about installing the cameras. The infrared Micro and Bullet cameras are excellent for mounting hidden in a mailbox post or front yard lamp post. It is an excellent investment at night because it will pick up the slightest movement of anyone and/or anthing in it's path. We plan on ordering the above license plate camera soon!

We have bought the infrared, (night vision) and audio/video cameras and all of the cameras have worked with no problems at all. They also have DVR's, (Digital Video Recorders) where you don't have to use a VCR to record any criminal activity. VCR tapes quality are okay, just easier to make a copy of a DVD to give to law enforcement for evidence.

Be careful with the audio part of the audio/video cameras, it is illegal to record conversations between two or more people, however, the audio will pickup the loud mufflerless vehicles, car alarms, boom vehicles, barking dogs, etc., if the cameras are mounted close enough for anyone to hear the loud noise, do a distance test first. We have used these cameras for years and they are very reliable and cost efficient. Hope this helps anyone having problems with loud noise makers? After contacting the noise snare company, I was dissappointed because they said they only lease them to law enforcement and businesses, maybe someday someone will mass produce similiar noise snares for the general public!
